The Great Poison Era

How lucky are we - as human beings - to be so intellectually advanced as animals, yet so emotionally unstable at the same time, thus causing our collective behaviors alone to destroy an entire planet? 

Over millions of years of evolution, man has unfortunately comfortably created a type of predator with the ability to manipulate and influence other living things, and not just simply hunt.

I'd say it's not very lucky of us at all, it kind of feels like a messy nightmare, but what do you think? 

As we collect history and seem to pass down the same problems; society is realizing that we never really solve those problems, we solve pain points. 

There's so much love we can feel on the individual level with our family, friends, pets, and partners. Yet, as a whole, the world is literally on fire and humans are suffering - just like they were even before the first copy of The Bible was published. 

The Modern Era (17th Century - Present) has a few mini eras inside it. Starting with the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century and skipping to the Post-War Era ending after the Cold War; here we are now...still lots of wars... On the downside, it's not just a war for power and land like normal, there is now a war on regular citizens with corporations (Working Class vs Greedy Class). This is what I have deemed The Great Poison Era due to a plethora of issues going unresolved for the benefit of profit only, not the people, not the planet. 

The majority of corporations lobbying to the government to pass laws for their own personal business interest has resulted in irreversible damage in people and the environment. And because humans as a whole hate dealing with problems, especially when they have their own problems to tend to first. Therefore, the harmful cycle continues and causes The Great Poison Era to irresponsibly extend itself.

Even though other first world countries have higher moral standards for their food and products, The Great Poison Era is worldwide and not just about Americans. This is due to fossil fuels being used worldwide still, excess travel, and unwillingness to have consistent regulations internationally that aim to improve the environment instead of destroying it. From a perspective that is un-bias to profit, only free energy paths would make sense, however, it is not used due to businesses wanting to not adapt to the ever-changing market.  

I pause to think of the main motives that keep the gears moving in the economy. Do you really believe we live in a time where the market runs the world? Our buying power is based on the best marketing most of the time. As a young storyteller in the film community, I wanted to believe the best ideas are what triumphed. But as I studied mass media effects and worked in marketing next to high-level executives, I witness most of the economy being manually influenced by someone paying for the most advertising... 

The realization of this may have you feeling as hopeless as finding out God isn't real...or perhaps a similar feeling of betrayal and hopelessness when you're paying for the monthly health premiums, a deductible, and copays into your healthcare only for your forced private health insurance to deny life-saving medical treatment...

The business owners have figured out the formula for leading the market to move in their favor (called marketing campaigns) before the year 2000, it's only become more optimized and refined. Whatever the mass consumers buy is what turns into the standard (which is why they dump millions into ads - to limit competitor options and be top of mind for buyers always. 

History avoids the nasty side of business deals, but it's the most fun for me to learn about. No matter how many characters I create for my novels and screenplays, I will always be more moved by a living person's actions because it's what's true.

What Are More Things You'd Find In A Dystopian Fiction Series That Are Actually Real In The Great Poison Era: 

Don't think I'm tattling when I make these statements as these are widely known occurrences happening that have been going on for decades - no matter who is denying it. Food companies purposely add ingredients that science has deemed unsafe, unhealthy, or unnatural because it either saves them money and/or is addictive for the consumer to cause repeat customers. This fact is known by those working in the food industry, marketing/sales industry, and the government - plus anyone else who has read the plethora of articles or watched documentaries around this. Companies sacrifice product and consumer wellness for more profit. This means they love money more than they love providing the service they give, no matter what the marketing on the About Us page describes to you. 

We will be stuck in The Great Poison Era until our leaders around the world (America especially) take action, not just talk about the action they will take later, then never actually do. Currently, Americans are being urged that the health and economic crisis is not an issue they can control (like climate change), or they direct their energy into the wrong source for confirmation bias (like people who say climate change is a hoax). However, with sales and marketing tactics, companies have been able to pay off the government into working in their destructive favor and then using advertising to pretend they aren't to the public. (Like when Hospitals say the put patients first but in reality, your insurance comes first. So, yeah, companies have laws adjusted to get away with having false marketing, and if they can't - there is a long process to make it difficult to punish them). *Us marketers are sneaky and know that once some bad info comes out, we have the lengthy legal process and good PR ready to prolong our ability to keep the product on the market and limit customer loss.

In college I've discussed peer review research about certain vaccines being unsafe - but this is due to studies not being pursued properly for Sales/Profit purposes, not science. Some current leaders are promoting all vaccines are bad when they have a real, life-saving purpose in a healthy society - it's just been tainted with greed in some parts. Once the greed is cleaned out, our lives can be optimized. This doesn't mean get rid of vaccines, it means update our research since many labs have taken on money from companies or have lied to prevent their own lack of funding. We should use the most viable primary research and still recreate it to have 1. updated information and 2. confirm what is supposed to be true. This science alone should be funded by companies and not people since they are the ones that ruined the scientific process and need to take accountability like a real adult with integrity, not pass it on to the people that were harmed from their immoral decision making. 

Once a problem comes out publicly (like when DuPont continued to sell Teflon) the people responsible will always find it easier to bury the issues than to solve them simply because that's less work to do. It is most likely too much money and energy to resolve for the business or government, so poisonous problems don't get resolved for that one product. Unfortunately, this issue is repeated by a plethora of businesses, which is then copied by every other business (still using harmful color dyes, artificial sugars, microplastics, chemicals, etc). Now those small amounts of chemical hazards are in your body at a large amount thanks to it being in the majority of your purchased foods and tangible products. 

This repeated action since the mid 1900's has caused spikes in diseases and harm to humans they haven't experienced in any other century. This is why it's The Great Poison Era. It's not the wives rising up and poisoning their abusive husbands or the military sabotaging an enemy with poison (although these have happened, especially that second one but mostly in towards other countries). 

It's our very own businesses in our own towns and our own country, purposely harming us because they value money over saving their own species...
